The Enablers
Power. Silence. Complicity.

Rachel Lasky
Police Sergeant
Role: The officer who dismissed my report.
When I tried to file a police report, she told me they had more serious cases to deal with and refused to investigate. She discouraged me from filing a civilian warrant, claiming I needed Steele’s birthdate — making justice feel unreachable.

Judge Deepak Jeyaram
Gwinett County Judge
Role: The judge who dismissed my warrant.
At the civilian warrant hearing on March 26, 2025, he ruled there was no probable cause, citing the lack of witnesses and physical evidence. He stated: “I wouldn’t feel comfortable moving forward because this would open the door to anyone saying they were sexually assaulted.”
This decision effectively ended any legal path forward.

James D. McClure
Gwinnett County Police Chief
Role: Oversight of departmental conduct.
Despite my efforts, emails, and follow-ups, no one in command stepped in to review or correct how my report was handled. No internal investigation. No accountability.

Dr. Todd Andrew Maletich
Director of Clinics at AICA Ortho & Spine
Role: His direct superior.
Todd wasn’t in the room when Dr. Steele assaulted me. But he stood up in court and claimed Dr. Steele did nothing wrong, as if his personal opinion could erase what happened to me.
He used his authority to invalidate my trauma.
He weaponized his position to protect a coworker — not a patient or oath.
He didn’t witness the assault. But from the moment I spoke up, it felt like his mission was to silence it.

Judge Kristina Blum
Chief Magistrate Judge
Role: Oversees the court where my case was dismissed.
Chief Magistrate Judge, Kristina Hammer Blum is responsible for the standards, conduct, and oversight of the court that silenced me. After my case was dismissed, I called and emailed her office directly — and was ignored. No review was launched. No concern was raised. No one cared enough to even respond.

Dr. Alexander
Steele
Chiropractor
Role: The violator.
It wasn’t an accident.
It wasn’t a misunderstanding.
He rubbed his penis against me — four times — and smiled while doing it. During a medical appointment where I was vulnerable, trusting, and expecting care, he violated my body and my safety without hesitation. And then he went back to work — like nothing happened.
He’s still seeing patients.
Still working at AICA.
Still protected by silence, loyalty, and power.
He wore a white coat to disguise his true self underneath it. And everyone around him made sure he walked away untouched.

Patsy Austin-Gatson
Gwinnett County District Attorney
Role: Chief Prosecutor
As District Attorney, Patsy Austin-Gatson had the authority to step in — and she didn’t. I called her office in tears and told them everything. No investigation. No support. Just finger pointing. She had the power to pursue justice and hold a reported abuser accountable. She chose not to use it.
AICA Orthopedics
Chiropractic Clinic
Role: The institution that ignored a sexual assault survivor.
AICA waited a full week to contact me after I reported the assault and when they finally did, it wasn’t to protect me. It was to protect themselves. There was no urgency. No care. No real investigation. They knew what Dr. Steele was accused of and he's still treating patients. Possibly alone with women.
That wasn’t a mistake — it was institutional silence at the cost of patient safety. They didn’t just fail me — they protected him at the expense of every future patient who walks through their doors.
